When testing is more reliable
Home pregnancy tests detect hCG. Testing too early can be negative even if pregnancy later becomes detectable. Many people test around 10 days after ovulation, while 14 days after ovulation or after a missed period is usually more reliable.
- Early try: about 10 days after ovulation.
- More reliable: about 14 days after ovulation or after expected period.
- If negative but period does not arrive, retest after 48 hours.
